This week I chose this beautiful insect. I don't know if it's beneficiary or harmful, but I chanced to spot it and found it beautiful. No idea as to what it could be. Anyone?

Looks like a wasp, but where is the abdomen? It won't be long before we have all kinds of cool subjects to shot macro.

Great, sharp photo! I thought it was a wasp or some kind of ant, but I'm not sure. I love the little antennaes on it. It's a mystery! Maybe you've discovered a new species. Cool!

Racquel: Thank you, but I looked up wasps and most of them seem to have striped abdomen and as Randy pointed out the abdomen is missing here. I mean in the photo. Or is it really missing?

Marion: Thank you :). I still think it might me a wasp as I was reading through all the comments and I just now learned that not all wasps necessarily have striped abdomen. It's possible that some wasps have just a metallic blue or green body! That makes me wonder if this is a metallic blue wasp? Does the body look metallic blue? I thought it was black! Or Am I color blind? OMG!

I thought that too, Rose. It kind of does resemble an ant but again as you said, it's too big for an ant. [sigh] I hope I'll find out someday.

It looks like a Dirt Dauber to me. We have them around here, they make there nest from mud. Though it does have a small abdomen.

Could be, Randy, but this thing looks different from a normal mud wasp or dirt dauber. Besides did you notice its blue eyes? That has me puzzling and almost all of the wasps have striped abdomen and this one lacks abdomen - may be it's short or severed off? But how can it survive without one? Or may be its abdomen was bent? Damn! Should have taken it in other angles too. But as I said, I noticed it only after I copied it onto my hard disk.

Hi ally, as I said the tulips - remaining two died - never even gave out leaves. Mums - I got them from a placed called Rose garden in ECR road - before VGP to the right. The guy is in Alwarpet and told me that his farm is in ECR road and that I could go with him on Saturdays and Sundays - early mornings. The problem is, I work in night shifts and afternoon shifts which make it difficult for me to go with him. You could call him and he's a nice guy. He says he has a farm of different Adenium varieties. Check out his website and you'd want one of each!
