The Dreamers!

O’ Dreamers!Butterfly Pea - Clitoria ternatea - Aparâjita
Like Aphrodite and Eros, you’re the intelligent ones, compassionate, sympatheticChrysanthemum - Chrysanthemum indicum - Sevantikâ
and loving souls.Amaryllis Lily - Hippeastrum hybrid
But as all other beings on earth you too have one weak point – that you’re the most malleable of all zodiacs.Arabian Jasmine 'Grand Duke Of Tuscany' - Jasminum sambac var. 'Grand Duke Of Tuscany'
You can also be indecisive, but that's partly because you don't like to be pinned down. But hey, the versatile ones that you are, tend to understand things by absorbing them rather than logic.Ixora - Ixora coccinea
It's easy for you to become emotionally drained by the needs of friends, family and lovers, so it's important for you to take time out for yourself.Lantana - Lantana camara var. aculeata
They are more readily concerned with the problems of others than with their own.You have a very creative imagination and an artistic temperament.O’ Dreamers! It was really great knowing you. Belated Happy Birthday wishes, ye’all! May stars shine down upon you this year!Shuka (the Sanskrit word for parrot) - My first ball of joy, happily perched on my mom's arm (the other's shy towards the camera still)

What beautiful flowers! I have an Arabian jasmine as a houseplant, it doesn't look as happy as yours though! Your little bird is very cute!

So glad you came out of "hibernation" to share all these beautiful blooms with us, Chandramouli! I like the way you personify your plants--I'm beginning to think of you as the "Plant Whisperer":) (Are you familiar with the Horse Whisperer or the Dog Whisperer?) Now I understand why your plants always look so happy!

A beautiful little bird!

My amaryllis is just starting to bloom, that peachy orange one is called the Barbados Amaryllis. They used to grow wild around the island here but haven't seen many for several years. Lovely flowers and fascinating bird.

Catherine: Try placing your Jasmine in full sun and I'm sure it'd grow happily. Thank you :) He is quite naughty.

Glad I made a fresh start of your day, Tyra :) I will. Have a great weekend.

Thank you, ally. I live in West Mambalam. Of course this parakeet/budgie, I bought it, but we have lots of Indian Ringnecks visiting our terraces here and I've seen them in other parts of Chennai too, like Alwarpet and others. Where do you stay, btw?

Rose: Wow! That's quite a compliment, Rose. Yes, I've heard of Horse Whisperer, but I'm not sure if I really deserve that. Thank you, all the same. You make me feel great :)

Randy: Thank you. Glad I was of some help.

Islandgal: I've always wanted to grow the Barbados Lily (Hippeastrum puniceum). I fell in love with it when I saw it first. Thank you :)

Shuka looks happy perched on your mother's arm. I too have parakeets. Three of them. Two are tame and able to be held, one is not. They are joys and so easy to take care, though a bit messy. That is the only bad part. I am glad you are having such a fun time with yours. They really all have personalities which I think sometimes folks don't understand.

They sure do, Tina. Don't they? Glad to meet a fellow budgie owner! Of course, messy but their clownish behavior makes the mess nothing, doesn't it! I sometimes feel they're close to human personality, though this could just be my imagination.
Have a great weekend!

What a glorious collection of fabulous fancy flowers! Does the Arabian Jasmine smell as good as it sounds?

Your little bird is so cute! I'm glad you shared a photo.

You should be a Botanist, you have such a deep love and knowledge of flowers and plants!!

The flowers are all very beautiful but that Shuka is too cute! Nice to see a new post from you again. :-)

What lovely flowers, Mouli! How fragrant is the Arabian Jasmine?

Chandramouli S said...

Mrion: Thank you, Marion. Yes, it's fragrance is heavenly and no doubt many of the Indian lore features this flower and praise it's beauty and fragrance. Glad you liked him :) Botanist? Well I'd have loved to be one but I'm not sure if I'm qualified enough.

Rowena: Glad you liked them. Isn't he ultra sweet? Naughty little one! Thank you.

Jamie and Randy: A single Jasmine is not so fragrant unless you smell it close (which of course is heavenly), but with a handful of flowers in the plant, the smell permeates the air around it and is strong especially during dawn.

West Mambalam?? I stay at Velachery. Hey, have you tried growing Daisies? I am so fond of them, and yet uncertain if it would grow in this weather :( Please let me know your thoughts. Do you have any pointers on good Nurseries? I am planning to visit ur earlier ptrs on Desert rose next Sunday. So if you can give more, I shall club it up ;)

Haven't had luck getting the seeds. Any ideas as to where I can get them? Of course it'd grow in our weather. I'd grow even Saffron in our climate - my motto is try everything! You'll never know, you can find ways to create a suitable micro-climate for a particular plant. Good Nurseries? I'm yet to see one. Sorry to be so harsh on nurseries but the problem here is that they lack variety! You'd get the usual hibiscus, jasmines, and tonnes of crotons. I'd ask for a fragrant flowering plant and would get a strange look from them.
Good luck with the Desert Rose. Do post pics in your blog. Will be waiting for them.
And, I heard that there's a good nursery near Maaya Jaal, but couldn't find time to visit it yet.
There's also this nursery named 'Rose Gardens' in ECR Road (I know that's hardly an address, but it's to the left when you go towards VGP and is situated before the toll gate). I plan to go there this week. I'll let you know the exact location if I make it up.
Good luck, Ally!

Thats so kind of you! I share the similar opinion regarding nurseries. They give a weird look, when we ask for flowering plants. I had been troubling a near by Nursery guy for Daisy & vegetable seeds, but no luck so far. Lets see. I am gonna visit my hometown in another 3 weeks, let me check out there at least. I am fed up of all these Arali, Hibiscus etc.. So happy to find a like minded person like you! Thank God!!!!
