No, no! I’m not talking about the ones made of the actual Soil Block Makers – though I wish I could. I wanted to ask my friend who-choo-aaach—oo-achoo… … … came to India from US to get me one, but I forgot! Stupid me! Today, with no office and fever and cold, I had nothing to do except go through the blogs. I was constantly eyeing at the seed packets my sis brought from Germany for me. I thought, Why don’t I try making soil blocks myself? It’s so boring sitting here-achoo-and sneezing constantly and shivering. I wanted to make use of my leave (which isn’t a leave but a Loss of Pay… Grrr… Managers never understand!) as I seldom get it, what with my constant shift changes and disturbed sleeps! So I decided to sow the strawberries (I was waiting for this) and laven-achoo-der. So this is what I came up with. I know these blocks might break up, but let’s see…
Finally I did brave to plant the bulbs that my sis bought from Germany. I’m glad I did it at least now. It’s been a month since she gave it to me. I delayed it for the next day, next day, and … next day, but the next day never seemed to come. We even bought two plastic pots (I wanted to try the plastic ones this time for a change). I was so excited on seeing that my sis got me TULIPS and CROCUS! I was all goggling at the pictures of the beautiful flowers.
But, I did a grave mistake by not storing them in refrigerator but left them completely closed in a plastic cover and left it in a corner. I was not sure why I was scared to keep them in refrigerators. Stupid me! Well, my sis also sent me two blocks of potting soil blocks that you could soak in four litres of water to get seven litres of potting mix in 15 minutes! Lo! I was all ready to plant them and planted six crocus bulbs with Chamomile in one pot and yesterday I opened the tulips to plant them, but to my shock seven bulbs were attacked by fungi! I was spared only three :(! Stuffed the rest with crocus and prayed that all of them would grow well!
Since this is my first time planting bare bulbs, I’m still nervous about them sprouting and growing well! I palms enjoined and my lips muttering prayers for them! Join me, yes, like that. Good!
Okay, I know I'm bad at keeping up my promises and my job doesn't help me either! So, I decided to get real and change the Monday Macro to Weekly Macro, coz I've missed it twice already and I feel embarrassed. Phew! I said it! I feel so much relieved now. Okay! So, for this week's macro, it's my favorite - Amaryllis Lily. I've waited more than six months for this to bloom again and here's the result:
Amaryllis Lily - Hippeastrum hybrid
If you remember my Bud(g)s Beauty (December Birthday Gift) post, this is what it bloomed into. Isn't she beautiful? She's one of the older citizens of Plantville.
Gardening, Knitting, and Crochet are my passion in my life. I love the idea of blogging which serves as an outlet for the artist in me.
In the blog, In Art Lies My Heart, I speak of the green stories of Plantville (my garden world). I intend to attract wildlife to my garden and also grow plants from our ancient lores and rare plants.
In my blog, Cables and Posts, I intend to convert yarns into beautiful fabrics and share my work with others who share the same interest all over the globe.
I'm glad I began this journey... Come, join me.
